Topic: Alerts to the Wishlist ! Posted: 06 Jun 2005 at 3:35pm |
are Alerts on the wishlist, it is something I would find much more useful if we were about to set them quickly as we scan through our watchlists manually. I think it would be great to have the simplicity of right clicking to a menu from a chart that gives us alert options and having Alerts as an option from the menu bar. A broad bright colour alert that pops up on the screen that you cannot miss and an audible alert that we can point to audible files on our local computer would be a great feature, but also other thoughts would alerts on volume, alerts via email, alerts via sms etc. I know that alerts are available from the portfolio, but is a task to set them... In the past I have found it too much of a process to set alerts and therefore missed opportunities arise, and maybe thats partly because of my forgetfulness or laziness ? or my mind moves on to the next job thinking i will set all my alerts soon ?? Any opinions ?? |

We're hoping to add alerts later this year. When they're done, they'll be cool and convenient.
Please reply with other ideas for things you'd like to see in alerts. |

My ideas for alerts.
Creating an alert - method 1 - make it a standalone module, detached from the portfolio (which is possibly Bullcharts least best feature as far as functionality goes, which is another topic?). Table format so as to be able to import a complete watchlist and set criteria Creating an alert - method 2 - may be able to make it another criteria in the scan module eg <is an BullAlert?> then use the existing criteria, but be able to select a company from a dropdown list to set alert to. The difference from a normal scan is that a scan would be able to be set to run on a pre-determined basis ie manually or after data update eg Options by checkbox - run after latest data update . Creating an alert - method 3 - quick alert by right clicking on chart or code. It would then go to the method 2 'scan' criteria to create a new individual alert. Alert maintenance would then be via method 1, table view. Each row would be an alert for a code, highlight or doubleclick the row to edit, amend delete etc Make it available offline. |

More Ideas: 1./ when using alerts on live data, an option to set on bid or offer prices could be helpful. 2./ As an alert is about to be set, a good idea would be for the current bid price to be filled/shown, good reference check on last order price. 3./ Import a Watchlist from the Security Manager [Maximise the functionality of a great Tool] or cut and paste a list into "Alert Maintenance" similar to Cobra has mentioned above. 4./ This may be too complex ??? but as some systems incorporate different exit methods, would it be possible to set up alerts as an Indicator reaches its target, eg. MA crossover, or MACD crossover...? [would be a brilliant extension] cheers |

Setting alerts with a volume threshold and/or # of trades threshold would be handy. eg.1. if # of trades crosses a predetermined # of 50 trades, send an alert. eg.2. if volume is > 1000000 send an alert. |
