Thanks. SP1 is actually part of my planned upgrade (along with my new SSD!), I'd better ask Sydney support when a fix will be ready. By the way you mean both x32 and x64 right? I'm using Win 7 x32.

Hi,
To confirm the latest versions which are approved for use with BullCharts, I suggest you contact the support staff in Sydney (I am not the best person to ask - being a contracted support person working from Melbourne). You can email to: info@bullsystems.com.au But let me also say that with my corporate IT background, it is dangerous to always apply the latest version of anything. It is the early adopters who uncover the bugs that the program testers could not find. It is best to simply allow the system to download updates whenever the system prompts to do it (but be aware that if an unintentional bug is included, then they will fix and download another update to fix the bug). BUT, there is currently one exception to all of the above. There is a problem using Windows 7 SP 1 with the Metastock dll in BullCharts. So for anyone using the Metastock dll - proceed with caution on Windows 7 (SP1). I hope this helps. If not, the Sydney support staff are a quick phone call away (the number is on the web site). Cheers |

I'm not a tech head so I can't answer that question Owen but I recently had to install Bullcharts on my new Win7 system, I had trouble getting it to work, so I called tech support and they remote accessed my PC to install the new SQL, they also installed a patch for my external data which is needed if you have metastock data on Win7, took about 20 minutes and everything is running well. I find the Bullcharts staff to be very quick and good service. Give them a call.

So what versions of SQL and .net are recommended for Bullcharts? I'm upgrading my system soon and usually I just use the latest versions on Microsoft's website. The versions on my CD may be outdated.

Hi Chris_R,
Sorry for any misunderstanding, but this BullCharts Forum is not monitored by BullCharts staff. It is intended for discusison amongst the user community. Having said that, the BullCharts staff in Sydney are always very happy to help with any problems at all. The best way to contact is either mailto:info@bullsystems.com.au or by phone (02) 9884 7622 [this number is on the web site). As the convenor of the BullCharts User Groups, and a moderator on this forum, let me add the following snippet of information to try to help you. Like others, I am running BC on Windows 7 64-bit with no problems (except a clash with Trend Micro Titanium anti-virus which can only be fixed by switching to another AV product). So, the problems you have encountered are not normal. If not resolved yet, please contact the Sydney office for quick assistance. Cheers |

I think its the dam SQL server problem.
Windows 7 decided to update SQL server pack 3 or 4 not long ago which has now resulted in problems with bullcharts.
I opened Bullcharts today and it is working perfectly again.... go figure. Edited by Chris_R - 18 Mar 2011 at 4:05pm |

I have been using Bullcharts on windows 7, 64 bit for a long time (over a year) now with no problems. I remember having installation problem initially (something to do with SQL) but Day at bullcharts was extremely helpful in resolving it. Its been a smooth run ever since.

Bullcharts popped up an error tonight telling me it couldn't find microsoft SQL server studio..
it asked to reinstall, but didn't like it ..
I'm still not convinced bullcharts likes windows 7.

It had something to do with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express.
Also your earlier bullchart templates will not work unless you get them converted by the Bullcharts team.
