are Alerts on the wishlist, it is something I would find much more useful if we were about to set them quickly as we scan through our watchlists manually. I think it would be great to have the simplicity of right clicking to a menu from a chart that gives us alert options and having Alerts as an option from the menu bar. A broad bright colour alert that pops up on the screen that you cannot miss and an audible alert that we can point to audible files on our local computer would be a great feature, but also other thoughts would alerts on volume, alerts via email, alerts via sms etc.  I know that alerts are available from the portfolio, but is a task to set them...

In the past I have found it too much of a process to set alerts and therefore missed opportunities arise, and maybe thats partly because of my forgetfulness or laziness ? or my mind moves on to the next job thinking i will set all my alerts soon ??

Any opinions ??

More Ideas:

1./ when using alerts on live data, an option to set on bid or offer prices could be helpful.

2./ As an alert is about to be set, a good idea would be for the current bid price to be filled/shown, good reference check on last order price.

3./ Import a Watchlist from the Security Manager [Maximise the functionality of a great Tool] or cut and paste a list into "Alert Maintenance" similar to Cobra has mentioned above.

4./ This may be too complex ??? but as some systems incorporate different exit methods, would it be possible to set up alerts as an Indicator reaches its target, eg. MA crossover, or MACD crossover...? [would be a brilliant extension]

more alert ideas

1./  I have a better feel as time goes by, and came across a fantastic idea for alerts from an FX platform. It uses the mouse cursor to identify the price level you are currently positioned at on the chart you are hovering over, you can then right click and set alert from menu, which will set it at that horizontal price level on the chart, you can simply press enter from the next dialog box and it will be set using your preset alarm settings [eg, sms, audible, graphical or whatever maybe], or you can reconfigure as necessary. A great idea i feel, makes setting alerts very dynamic. The Alert level will show up as a horizontal line on the chart, which can also then be dragged up and down to move it to the new chosen alert level, making it very useful indeed.
 
2./  Another good idea, especially now being able to scan live data, is to right click and add single or all selected stocks from the Security Manager [using CTRL and SHIFT keys to highlight for multiple selections from the watchlist. This needs to have simplicity if Day Trading. I quite often will be waiting for a price move greater than the previous days high, therefore live scanning for stocks moving this way and then setting a few alarms quickly at the levels of confirmation i am waiting for is ideal, hence doing this as in the example above with the mouse pointer would be perfect.
 
3./  A further enhancement could be News alerts, more specifically, filtered to your specifc descriptions, eg. for director buying you may filter for the key words "director" and set an audible alert associated with this when any news title has director in it, or "gold" for gold strike, I am sure you will get the idea.

Setting alerts with a volume threshold and/or # of trades threshold would be handy.

eg.1. if # of trades crosses a predetermined # of 50 trades, send an alert.

eg.2. if volume is > 1000000 send an alert.
