My situation is:  I am trying to show the relative strength comparison of 2 international indicies from the metastock database. Simply I open a chart as normal whether it is from the BullCharts database or the Metastock database [that bit is fine] but when i insert a security from ---> insert---> security menu, and I choose from my metastock database to show the 'Relative Strength Comparison', it cannot be recognised [it will show on its own chart perfectly fine]

Indicies example symbol i used is ^FTSE for the FTSE100 index..

Hi,

The Insert Security window will only insert a security from your primary data source (in Tools | Preferences | Data).

So, if you have BullSystems set up as your prefered data source then you can't compare one Metastock security to another. To achieve this you will need to change the datasource to Metastock (and enter the folder for your Metastock data).

The reason for this is that the Insert Symbol window doesn't know which folder to find your Metastock data in unless it is set up in the preferences.

yes, works fine thanks Peter,

is there any changes that can be made in the future that could enable us to choose the database we are referencing eg. primary or secondary, that could then enable us to save and reuse a template ??

I am guessing the only other way for me to compare ASX with International data using RSC indicators at this stage is to have ASX data included in the MetaStock database, is this correct ??

cheers etrader

That's correct.

But in the next version you'll be able to select a Metastock file directly from the "Insert Security" window, even if you're in BullSystems mode.
