what index is best to watch for gold or oil

   hi, i been asking around trying to find out what is the best index to watch for gold and oil,  i spoke to a major 40 year veteren trader i know and he said without doubt to watch OIL WEST TEXAS INTERMEDIATE for oil.....and GOLD COMMEX for gold,  i looked thru the 500 indexs that bull chart supplies but these are not there , i wonder why not ?  if these are the ones to watch i would assume bull charts would have them,   anyway support suggested some from CBOE but i was told by others that these are probably charts for option trading so not really accurate, or maybe they are close enough,  all a bit confusing for me,  is there anyone out there that can advise which ones i should look at and are they on the BC list, thanks, fiesta62
