Working with the Security Manager

   Most of you will have found the security manager by now. If you
haven't, press F6 to open it up. The security manager allows you to
locate companies by either index, industry group, alphabetically, or by
type. But it's most useful feature is are the WatchLists.

To create a WatchList, right click on the WatchList item and select New
WatchList. Then type in a name for the WatchList. Once created, you can
add companies to the WatchList by typing their ASX codes into the list
below. You can also create folders to arrange your WatchLists.

Here are several tips for working with WatchLists:

  You can create a new WatchList based on an existing group by
dragging it onto the WatchList item. Eg: If you want to make your own
customised ASX50 list, drag the ASX50 Index group onto WatchList. A new
watchlist will be made with those codes, but you can now edit/remove
codes.
  You can add the codes from one group into an existing WatchList
by dragging it onto the WatchList. Use this, for example, to create a
WatchList that contains both the Energy and the Materials sectors.
  To move securities from one WatchList to another, select the first WatchList then drag the company from the symbol list and drop it onto the second WatchList.
For example you may have a list of current trades, and another of
recent trades. Dragging allows you to easily move a company from one to
another.
  If you repeat tip #3, but hold down Ctrl while dragging, a small
[+] symbol appears next to the mouse. This will copy the symbol into
the newWatchList, without removing it from the old one. In general the [+] symbol means "copy instead of move". 
  You can drag symbol from scan results onto a WatchList, or from the symbol box to a WatchList.
  You can move a WatchList into a different folder by dragging it onto that folder.
  Alternatively, if you hold Ctrl while dragging a WatchList onto a
folder, a copy of the WatchList is made. Again the [+] sign appears to
indicate a copy.

Thoughtful arrangement of WatchLists and folders can greatly aid your daily task of reviewing securities.

A final note: By default BullScan will scan on all "Ordinary"
securities. You can change this group. If you want the scans to scan on
one of your WatchLists (or any other group) by default, right click on
that item and select "Default Scan Group". Now every BullScan (that
does not have its security groups explicly set) will scan on that
WatchList instead of on "Ordinaries".
